Giddens and her band each mastered a variety of instruments from modern electric to traditional acoustic. And Giddens performed her role as resident historian and musicologist giving each song context - her mini classes on the banjo, on slavery and its aftermath, and on the Innocence Project were great examples of a successful artist using their position for good. Highlights include her cover of Sister Rosetta's Up Above My Head, the transcendent We Could Fly, and her newest work with Yet to Be, Wrong Kind of Right and You Louisiana Man. Charly Lowry was an unexpected treat - Stay and her a capello version of Willie Nelson/Patsy Cline's Crazy were gems.
